UaW: Mobius Assault Prologue

Sonic woke up again from another bad dream. Lately he'd been having bad dreams, so he couldn't sleep much. It was the same dream he had every time. He dreamt that all of his friends would be gone, and that one day, he would be, too. Sweat pouring from his face, he decided to get up instead of bothering to try and get some rest. Taking a look at his alarm clock, he could see it was still four in the morning, still dark out. He got up out of his bed, and left to go take a shower, and have his favourite breakfast: chilli dogs. Downing six dogs, he felt enough energy for a run.

He set out his path like he always did, this time planning a new course which would be about two minutes longer than usual. First, he would head over to Sally Acorn's place, then to Tails' place, than back and forth between Shadz's place and the Freedom Fighter's headquarters one hundred times, then to the G.U.N. headquarters, and finally end up on the beach to relax and hopefully watch the sunrise.

As expected, it only took seven minutes, forty-one seconds to do his run, and seeing as he was early, he decided to run up and down the beach until he could see the sun rise. Ten minutes past until Sonic could finally see the luminescent glow of orange, so he stopped and sat down so he could relax a bit. Sweat once again trickling down his face, he lay back, propping himself up with his arms so he could still see the sun.

It came up, as it always would, and Sonic smiled. He knew that today would be another glorious day in Mobius. The thought of his cheerful friends had pushed his dreams out his mind, and lied down again, just listing to the ocean swaying, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Just as he was enjoying himself, he felt a drop of something hit his left cheek. He opened his eyes, cautious in the case one of his friends would try to scare him. He couldn't believe what was going on.

Dark clouds were forming above him, circling in a menacing formation, spreading wildly. Jolting to his feet, he sprinted back towards his place in case it decided to rain on him. BOOM. Sonic stopped, despite himself, and as curiosity overwhelmed him, he looked to the sky, not to see lightning nor hear thunder, but because something bigger was coming his way. It came right through the center of the spiralling clouds, holding a glow much like the sun, only this glow came from a different source, which was aimed nearby the town.

Sonic ran at full speed, in a desperate attempt to meet the foreign object. He caught up with it just after it had landed, noticing that whatever was in the smoking crater it had formed was once again moving. It was huge, a giant walker with four legs, and a huge body which was slowly making it's way towards the town. Sonic knew what had to be done: he had to take it out before it could any damage. "This has Eggman written all over it!" Sonic shouted to himself.

Apparently, the giant machine heard him, stopping it's movement and turning in the direction of Sonic. He had just enough reaction time to avoid what like a green blast in his direction. "Too slow!" Launching himself at the leg, he realized that he would have his work cut out for him. Furiously trying to inflict some damage, he struck the head, and one of the side panels came crashing off with a thunderous boom as it hit the ground. It seemed as if their was something radiating from inside, which Sonic took to his advantage.

Launching a spin dash, he rammed right through the exposed area and out the other side. "Phew…that was a close one." As the machine started falling, he could see that now, the entire machine was radiating more green gases, and heard a particularly familiar humming. A deep humming that was getting louder and louder along with higher pitched. He realized that it was set to self-destruct, but realized it much too late. As he started running, the giant machine blow up, sending Sonic flying thirty feet before landing on the ground, skidding to a halt.

He looked around, jumped to his feet, and began to feel pain through his arm. He tried to move his arm, but found only more pain coming. "Great, just great." He finally started on his way home, but as soon as he reached his door, he heard something that made his heart jump up into his mouth. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. Hand on the doorknob, he looked past his house to see more of the machines heading down to the ground. "Oh no…"

He rushed inside, making a makeshift sling out of the comforter from his bed. Heading at top speed, he went to the Freedom Fighter's headquarters for the second time, finding Sally Acorn inside, along with Tails, Tyler-Tails' biological older brother-Shadz, and his adoptive little brother, Tutis. "Sonic!" cried Tails, "What's going on?" "No time to explain! Sound the alarm!" was Sonic's reply, and although he said it as if to get somebody else to do, he rushed towards the alarm and pressed the big red button.

Immediately, the alarm sounded, wailing loud and clear that everyone was to get to a safe place. Sally then asked, "What happened to your arm, Sonic?" Then Shadz asked, "And why'd you activate the alarm?" Sonic decided it was best to answer their questions first so they could get somewhere. "Firstly, I don't know, but there are some huge machines out there, probably Eggman's, secondly, I broke it after the machine I destroyed self-destructed, and thirdly, more machines are headed this way, so it might not be safe for us." Tyler then asked, "So what should we do?" Shadz answered, "Well, obviously, we're gonna have to fight those machines." Sally said, "Then we'll have to get moving."

When the group of them decided to leave after forming a battle plan, Tutis said to Shadz, "Brother, I'm scared…" "Hey, don't be scared, everything will be all right, ok little bro?" Sniffling a bit, Tutis answered, "Yeah, ok." "Good. Now stay here until things get sorted out, ok?" "Sure." When Shadz left the HQ, they all started on their way towards the machines. The one machine seemed menacing enough, but to Sonic, even with the Freedom Fighters and Shadz, it was going to be a rough fight.

Meeting with the three machines, they split up into different pairings: Tyler with Sonic, and Shadz with Sally and Tails. Launching a variety of attacks, all of which were unsuccessful, the group became quickly exhausted. Tails screamed to Sonic and the others, "We're not having any affect on them! At this rate, we won't make it!" Regrouping and retreat back a bit, they realized they had arrived at the beach and had nowhere else to go. They were cornered, exhausted, and seemed out of luck. "Looks like this is it…" At Sonic's words, something strange happened.

Many vibrant white portals started appearing out of nowhere, spawning what looked like robots. "Oh great," came from Shadz. But they turned out to be very lucky indeed. The new robots and large machinery that came from the portals were all painted white, compared to the red of the giant walkers. And the white robots were all firing on the walkers. The giant machines then directed their fire towards the new robots, but were soon overpowered when what looked like a giant suit of mechanical armour came, and quickly took out the walkers as if it was nothing. "What the heck is going on?" was now what came out of Sonic's mouth.

As if like last time, the giant suit of armour noticed them and started gliding towards them. Then something unexpected happened. They heard a woman's voice from within the armour. "Hello, sentient beings. I am Mirabel, and this is Viktor. We are here to help you."
